Susan got her dream job + $20K more by using my scripts:

“… I got my dream job! At $20K more than I was expecting! … you helped me see with such clarity. Your program is unlike any other I’ve ever seen … you shed light without any (shame), and (got me) excited to go find a job.  –  Susan B.

The 2 best ways to make someone want to chat with you:

  1. Find common ground FIRST! Mutual friends are one of the best ways to establish trust, but they aren’t the only way. Sometimes, something as simple as learning that you work in the same industry, went to the same college or both love SCUBA diving can work.
  2. Literally ask them “How can I help you?” The more you help others, the more they will remember you, and help you get connected to your next boss.

What you say first matters!

Nobody likes feeling used, but I’m afraid that’s exactly how they will feel like if you start a conversation with “I need a job. Can you help?” Your first mission is to focus on them, and find common ground. Make them feel like you really care about their interests, too, and the rest will be easy.

I learned all this the hard way. When I first started networking, I made ALL the big mistakes! Boy oh boy, did I have some awkward conversations … and climb into my car many, many days feeling icky. Heck, I even had some embarrassing moments on LinkedIn in the beginning! I joined LinkedIn 15 years ago, and nobody could tell me how to use it, so I had to figure it all out on my own.

The great news is, there are a LOT of easy and even fun ways to start a conversation, which will lead to you saying “I need a job. Can you help?” I’ve got a whole list of full-tested, proven scripts you can copy + paste … or make your own.

Know this: most people are good, generous human beings who really would love to help you … but they will be MUCH more likely to do so if you warm things up a little bit before you ask for an introduction or advice.

My scripts are going to help you avoid any awkward, icky conversations. They are also going to help you dramatically boost your chances of a reply by 300%! (LinkedIn: “Personalized messages [InMails] on LinkedIn have 300% better response than sending emails).
