Why? For the same reason people turn to their neighbors and friends for advice when they want to hire babysitters and plumbers and doctors by: the chances of getting good-quality help, that works well with you, is much higher when you lean on the advice and previous experience of others.
At face value, “talk to people” can sound intimidating, but once you learn the tricks of the trade I’m about to show you, you will realize that it can be much easier than you think.
Remember: Since the dawn of time, people got jobs by talking to people … and it worked just fine! Job boards only came out 1994 (Monster and CareerBuilder). Before that, you just started talking to people if you needed a job.
